Fushigi Yugi Gets New Manga About Priestess of Byakko


Fushigi Yugi: Byakko IbunShogakukan’s Monthly Flowers magazine announced on its March issue about the new Fushigi Yugi: Byakko Ibun (Fushigi Yugi: Curious Tales of the Byakko) manga. It was said that Yuu Watase, the manga creator of Fushigi Yugi and Arata: The Legend is launching the new manga in same universe as Fushigi Yugi. In addition, the manga will start in the magazine’s next issue which will be ship in Japan on February 28, the manga will also adorn the issue’s cover as well as having a color opening page.

The magazine teases the fans with the following statement:

“Fushigi Yugi’s Byakko Chapter begins at last!”

“The new work fans have long waited for!! The story of the Priestess of Byakko, as written in the Universe of the Four Gods, finally debuts!!”

Furthermore, there will be news about the stage plays of Suzaku and Seiryū according to the magazine. The original Fushigi Yugi manga was ran by Watase in Shogakukan’s Shōjo Comic (Sho-Comi) magazine from 1992 to 1996 and also an 18 compiled book volumes has been published by Shogakukan. Watase also drew Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden from 2003 to 2013. In North America, Viz published both of these manga together with other works of Watase.

A new stage play from Tamahome’s point of view will run in Tokyo from March 19 to March 29.
